Adult Safeguarding Champion Level 3

Overview

This 6 -hour course is aimed at staff with a Managerial or Supervisory role with Specific Safeguarding responsibility. This course fulfills the requirements of the Northern Ireland Adult Safeguarding Partnership Training Strategy 2016 and is in accordance with the RQIA Provider Guidance 2019-2020 Independent Health Care – Dental Practices Indicator S2 The service promotes and makes proper provision for the welfare, care and protection of service users. Participants must have undertaken training at level 2 prior to this course. Level 3 requires face to face formal training every two years

Objective- Knowledge of:

Values and principles of Adult Safeguarding and best practice. Essential causes and indicators of abuse

Reporting procedures and Recording skills

Workplace policies

Relevant legislation

Confidentiality

Complexities, tensions & value requirements in adult safeguarding

Capacity and Consent

The assessment, risk assessment intervention & referral process

Understanding of the Thresholds for referral to safeguarding services

Legislation Policies, procedures & processes in relation to safeguarding Statutory reporting requirements.

Ability to:

Recognise and Respond to Adult Safeguarding issues

Contribute to the assessment and management of Risk

Assist in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of Adults at risk.

Understand their role in the safeguarding process

Be aware of the process for referral to DAPO

Understand their responsibilities in supporting staff

Understand the process of investigation and referral to relevant agencies

To compile and analyse records
