Infection Control and Decontamination Update Training

Overall aim

To provide decontamination and infection prevention & control training that will assist dental nurses to adhere to current guidance and best practice.

IPC 1 1/2 hr

Objectives

- identity the chain of infection.

- Break the chain of infection using the 10 standard infection control precautions.

Decontamination 1 1/2 hrs

- outline the workflow within a local decontamination unit (LDU)

- Indicate the equipment used within a LDU and the perform the necessary tests correctly.

Learning content

This training session is intended to create a need to to apply infection prevention and control measures and decontamination procedures in the dental setting and reduce potential risk factors to both patients and the dental team.
